hamdx.org - set OTP provider

If you decide to chase a DX station that uses hamdx.org for OTP, select either Option 1 or Option 2. Option 1 has more steps but further reduces the risk of losing a configuration setting. In each case, the only customization is for OTP URL. Any checkboxes that may be needed for the digital mode in use (e.g., Special operating activity, SuperFox mode, Hound, OTP, and Show OTP messages) are no different than for any other OTP provider.

Option 1 - Preferred Method

  1. Go to the Configurations menu (second from the top left).
  2. Choose Default and then Clone
  3. Go back to the Configurations menu and choose Default - Copy
  4. Choose Rename and then type in hamdx.org
  5. Go back to the Configurations menu and choose hamdx.org and then Switch To
  6. The app will restart, and then hamdx.org will be shown in the lower left.
  7. Go to File > Settings > Advanced
  8. In the OTP URL box, enter https://hamdx.org
  9. In the lower right, click OK

You are now set up to try to contact one station that is using hamdx.org as their OTP provider. This is not the common OTP provider, and you are strongly encouraged to go back to your normal or default configuration once you finish chasing that one station. To do this:

  1. Go to the Configurations menu (second from the top left).
  2. Choose Default and then Switch To
  3. The app will restart, and your original configuration will be fully restored.

Option 2 - Alternate Method

  1. Go to File > Settings > Advanced
  2. Make a note of the current value in the OTP URL box. It should be the default value from when you installed the app.
  3. Save this in your station records, e.g., either on paper or in a notes app.
  4. Make sure that you have saved it. You will need this information later.
  5. Now, temporarily enter https://hamdx.org in that box, and press OK
  6. When you finish chasing one station, go back to File > Settings > Advanced
  7. Enter the saved value (from step 3) in the OTP URL box, and press OK

If you accidentally have lost the correct information for the OTP URL box:

  1. Do a web search for SuperFox User Guide OTP
  2. You will most likely find this in the PDF format.
  3. Open the PDF and look for the screenshots of the Settings -> Advanced tab.
  4. Copy the OTP URL into the corresponding box within the app on your computer, and press OK
